This may be $ 200 cheaper this year, but cannot deny that the Galaxy Z Fold is still beyond the regular smartphone from the same specifications when it comes to prices. Of course, paying the rotating material and technology around the folded look, but it might also be a big cause of worries when it comes to durability. Samsung made a big claim about the increased galaxy Z folding, and while Jerryrigeverything had put it on the test, the Allstate Squaretrade had produced a more brutal way to verify Samsung’s proud.
The new aluminum armor frame and Gorilla Glass Victus used for the body of the GalaxyFold 3 might not really be a guarantee that the owner and prospective buyer. They most likely care more about the main appearance of the inner, which Samsung also claimed 80% stronger. Still using plastic films that can be scratched with very sharp nails, but the real worries are whether it will survive the unintentional drops.
Allstate put it to test by dropping the phone folded facing down, with a very same folding display that hit hard concrete first. Strangely, the main view of the GalFold 3 survive from two drops like that and remains functional except for some minor pixel damage and minor blisters in the corners, maybe at a collision point. While most people may not accidentally drop the cellphone open from a height of six feet, at least give some guarantee that the folded telephone will not immediately die after at least one drop of a lower altitude.
Ironically, it is the appearance of the outer cover that receives the most damaged when the GalaxyFold 3 is dropped from the same height when it is closed. The glass is easily destroyed, which doesn’t speak well from the protective layer that should protect it better. That said, the screen seems to be still functional, at least.
Not surprisingly, this phone also survived 30 minutes of bathing in the pool with a depth of 5 feet, verifying the IPX8 ranking. Allstate clearly impressed at the naming point of the GalaxyFold 3 as the most durable cellphone that has been tested so far. Of course, the use of real-world and accidents will vary, but it can at least offer peace of mind that the phone is not a fragile glass piece.
