FTC leak reveals interest in broken McDonald’s ice ream machines

Every McDonald’s restaurant has an ice cream machine, but if you really can order anything that involves a cold nurse is a betting. It is well-known that McDonald’s ice cream machine often ‘does not work now’ when someone tries to order, a problem that might have more relationships with long waiting time than employees who do not want to clean them.

The frequency where the damaged McDonalde ice cream machine has caused many jokes, and at least one tool to track which store has a functional machine at a certain time. The driving force behind this issue is thought to be a type of ice cream machine that is able to handle milkshakes and demands of busy ice cream restaurants, but with temperamental needs that lead to frequent service.

Wired published an investigation on this issue earlier this year, reporting that the machine was made by a company called Taylor and that, reportedly, the company did not allow shop owners to easily serve its own machines. Editorial explains, for example, ‘secret menu’ on a machine that is allegedly not specified in the machine manual. Taylor, for his part, has denied that it makes the machine difficult to repair.

A new report from the Wall Street Journal revealed the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) now wants answers from McDonald’s about the ice cream machine and why they are so often out of service. The report claimed FTC to send information requests to the McDonald’s franchise, also quoted complaints from shop owners about their struggle with the machine.

Note, Taylor, the company behind the McDonald’s ice cream machine, allows the company to repair its own machine but warns that it will also cancel their warranty. People in talking to WSJ show interest in FTC on machines – as well as other equipment used in these restaurants – may have something to do with the right repair law.

The report noted that the FTC investigation on this problem was the current introduction, that it did not necessarily find “error,” and which in the end there was nothing resulting from this problem. There is no formal investigation that is opened at this time.
