Qualcomm Snapdragon Sound adds aptX Lossless Bluetooth audio support

Bluetooth audio has been around for years, but has seen a significant increase in used thanks to Apple initiatives to remove headphone jacks on smartphones. Unfortunately, Bluetooth headphones, especially small earbuds, still lack some quality audio performance delivered by the headset. Apple has tried to improve the situation with support for lossless audio in Apple music, and now Qualcomm does the same for the general population with the new Lossless APTX feature that comes soon for smartphone and customized audio accessories Snapdragon.

Lossless audio, sometimes called CD quality audio, naturally requires more data and more bandwidth to support the level of 16-bit 44.1KHz. It’s nuts for cables, but Bluetooth, although age and prevalence, wireless communication technology still pursues in several ways. Qualcomm pretty much said that Bluetooth audio was finally stuck with this new Lossless APTX capability.

Now part of the Snapdragon Sound certification, APTX Lossless accumulates on the APTX adaptive codec which is a few of the recently introduced more than three years ago. To achieve this achievement, it utilizes a high-speed Bluetooth Qualcomm link to meet the needs of data throughput that is faster, wider, and more stable. When more streaming music services embrace lossless audio, APTX Lossless promises to keep up with the times and let consumers enjoy this high-quality audio experience providing this service.

That said, all but the smartest listener might really recognize the quality improvement between lossy and lossless audio over Bluetooth. What the majority of users might appreciate more is the connection stability that is enhanced that APTX lossless is also taken as part of its foundation. However, high quality audio streaming will be in vain if your cellphone and headphones continue to be cut off.

Support Harsless APTX SoundDragon Sound does not occur with magic. To experience audio quality CDs, you need certified devices at both ends of the line. Unfortunately, the list of certified phones and audio accessories is still rather unclear at this time, and it may take a few moments before the Lossless APTX is actually a standard feature on the mobile market.
