Earlier this year, Twitter introduced a feature called tip jar that allows users to give tips on creator directly on their profile. This feature is one of several new Twitter ways that allow users to monetize their tweets, features that are very useful for artists, musicians, and anyone who creates content and has built an online audience.
A newly leaked fuel rumor that plans to add Bitcoin support to a tip jar, gives users their first options for the creator of the tip using Cryptocurrency than cash. The addition of Bitcoin support will not be surprising – Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey is a famous Crypto asset fan, with his Twitter profile only featuring Bitcoin hashtag.
We first heard about the signs of the upcoming Bitcoin Tip feature in a report from Macrumor last month. The report cites Twitter for the IOS beta application and the code contained signaling the addition of future crypto-tipping support. This new feature, assuming added, will join Paypal, Patreon, Venmo, Cash Application, and existing bandcamp options.
The latest tip comes from upside down engineers and cellular developers Alessandro Palzzi, who recently shared a screenshot of alleged Bitcoin support for the tip of the jar. Screenshot Reflects the reported features of the beta application, including that Bitcoin Tip feature uses a Bitcoin Lightning network for faster payments and reduction costs.
The screenshot also reveals that users who want to accept Bitcoin tips will require a strike account. Both leaks within a few days each other shows that Twitter will officially launch this feature anytime, but there is still no official announcement when support will arrive.
