Apple AR headset will still need an iPhone to function

Right when you think the days of the VR or AR headsets are driven by a smartphone, Apple might come and make it trendy again. Indeed, people like Google Daydream and Samsung Gear VR failed because of how they tie the smartphone to your head to do everything. Apple, on the other hand, may do things that are slightly different. According to sources who are familiar with things, Apple will take a mixture approach to a mixed reality headset that will still need an iPhone to be nearby to do its magic.

VR and AR headsets, sometimes collectively called Mr or mixed reality headsets, traditionally have been tethered on a strong PC to do heavy processing work. It’s not much for the previous headset design that stays heavy and is not comfortable to wear, but this industry mostly moves to a Mandiri headset like the Quest Oculus line. That said, which also places a figurative load and literal on the head of people, something that seems to be trying to avoid all costs.

Information report points to the setting where Apple will share the responsibilities between the headset and the “Host” device. The company has reportedly completed the design for system-on-chip or SOC for headsets and imaging sensors and display drivers. While most basic charts and processing will be handled by the headset itself, it is believed to be less strong than the processor found on the iPhone and iPad at this time.

In particular, it will lack the machine learning processor the neurasy machine used by Apple for Augmented Reality technology. The idea is to move the workload to the iPhone while the headset performs inefficient tasks to carry a wireless connection, such as power management. It shows that while headsets AR can work nominally without tethered devices, still need to communicate wireless with the iPhone to function fully.

The other AR platform already has similar settings, even though their glasses are more barebones, and they are connected to a smartphone with cables. Apple version, on the other hand, places heavy emphasis on comfort while still giving a headset some of the muscles themselves. Apple’s mixed reality headset is expected to appear next year as a developer-centric kit with a pair of more fashionable AR glasses debuted in 2023.
