Ulefone Power Armor 13 rugged smartphone review

Two-minute review

Having newly reviewed the WP15 Oukitel, we are lucky enough to get another steep smart phone with a large battery that comes so quickly through our doors. Ulefone 13 electric armature may have a smaller battery capacity (13.2.2AH vs 15Ah) and be only 4 g, but its largest on-board storage, along with a large number of accessories, cable / wireless loading And the reasonable price put it to a convincing product for those who want a mobile device that can last days.

Ulefone added small features that highlight the level of attention to detail that designers are used by producing this exquisite engineering piece: reverse wireless load, a laser range rack, headphones free FM radio (ideal for outdoor, even without coverage of 3G / 4G) as the accessory ecosystem. Keep in mind that your screen is, almost 7 inches, one of the greatest we have seen on a robust smartphone and is definitely worth considering if you are looking for a small replacement of steep tablets with a long battery.

Prices and availability

Ulefone 13 energy armor is on sale at the Chinese retailer online Banggood for $ 297.99. The price does not include postage (subsidized), local taxes or messaging charges. The endoscope costs an extra $ 39.99, which is a fair price for what it is. If you want to buy from China, we recommend that you read our article 2016 “Caveat Eppistor”.

Design

Like the WP15 Oukitel, the armor 13 adopted polycarbonate and metal plastic as basic construction materials. The metal frame will help you keep the falls, while the thicker frame allows you to cushion any fall that could damage your internal components or your screen.

The 16 megapixel selfie camera is located on the upper left side of the screen. The latter, which is a massive IPS screen of 6.81 inches 2400 x 1080 pixels, is surrounded by a high hard plastic bezel that should protect it from falls. It is covered with an oleophobic layer, which is a pleasant feature for those who hate fingerprints.

In the back there is a loudspeaker grill, as well as four camera sensors (48 main megapixels, 8 megapixels, 2 megapixels and 2 megapixels) and a 5 LED flash matrix.

A POGO connector for accessories, a customizable red button and the SIM tray are on the left side of the armor 13, while a volume rocker, the power button and the separated fingerprint sensor can be found in the other side. The type C connector and a 3.5 mm audio connector are hidden by a flap on the lower edge (remember, this is a tested device IP68 / MIL-STD-810G) with a laser on the opposite side.

It is one of the heaviest smartphones that we have tried less than 500 g and its dimensions, 182 x 86 x 21 mm, it means that it does not fit most of the jeans pockets.

Hardware

In the heart of the Power 13 armor, it is MediaTek Helio G95, which is its most powerful 4G chipset; It is related to a group of eight arms cores with four Mali-G76 MC4 GPU cores, that is the same chip in the Doogee S97 Pro and Realme 8.

In addition, they are 8GB LPDDR4X and 256 GB on board UFS storage. Wireless connectivity includes NFC, Wi-Fi 5, as well as Bluetooth 5.0. The 13.2AH battery is loaded with a 33W compact battery (11V, 3A) and can deliver power (5W) or be charged wirelessly (15W). Of course, you can upload other compatible devices using the grouped OTG cable.

Performance and in use

G95 performs better than the 5G capable 700 dimension found in WP15 with some of the best PCMAMK numbers recorded up to date for a non-calcomm processor (above 10,000 points) with its storage subsystem is its only Real remarkable weakness. Clearly, this is a capable smartphone that will leave the rivals at the entry level on their wake.

Its laser range stopped as expected (it is essentially the same as the S97 Pro) and outside the full matrix of Google Mobile Services (YouTube, Gmail) are the usual Mediakek applications such as the Security Center (which is more than A utility suite), children’s space and easy launcher, which are basic virtual desks, are not different from Samsung’s Knox.
