Roblox’s spatial voice is ready to roll in beta mode, bring Metaverse Roblox a step closer to reality. I mean, technically Roblox is already kind of, but with a spatial voice, the whole experience will be far more like players ready than today. Spatial sound will be available to be tested first in the ROBLOX community room for developers.
The way the creator of Roblox describes it, spatial sound allows avatar to the communications avatar “in the Roblox Community Room”. This feature binds avatar sound to avatar in 3D space. The distance of players away from other players has a direct impact on how well they can be heard.
This system uses a user microphone for communication between players. This kind of communication is currently not activated for all Roblox players. Especially the players who are young people, have such features just asking for a problem. But among players who are confirmed are old enough to talk to strangers – this can be cool.
Per Roblox representative, “Today’s news is more than a ROBLOX destination to bring metaphale to life by bringing communication to Roblox closer to reality while remaining not bound by the limitations of reality.”
“Maintaining a digital civil and safe platform is the most important,” said Manuel Bronstein, Roblox’s product head. “Virtual communication must be regulated by the same restraints we exercise in the real world.” We will hope that this sound feature will be made safe with the remaining ROBLOX platform.
Spatial sound is not a new feature to play games in general. Games as among us and winter projects utilize spatial audio in 2D. Now, by the ROBLOX aim to integrate their own features into their platform, it must be very clear how integral has features like this for the future of the Metavers type game and virtual reality.
