DJI may retire the name of the mavic, but that does not mean the line will become extinct. Right, it’s been three years since the “main” Mavic Drone was launched, but Dji did launch several drones meanwhile. Drone maker fans may be relieved to hear that new products are only around the corner. And if this rather decent leak will be trusted, DJI Mavic 3 or DJI Pro 3 will pack enough blows when it comes to the specifications.
Considering the time gap between Mavic 2 and this upcoming drone, it is really not surprising to hear that Mavic or Pro 3 will see a substantial increase in hardware. It will also have a very different design but, according to Brazil Youtube Channel Dronemodelmo, it will still have the same size as 2018 Mavic 2.
There will be a new collision avoidance system that will depend on the sensor that has been moved to the corner of the drone. 1TB internal storage seems to be the standard for drones, although 2TB options may also be available. Whether it will be powered by 5,000 mAh or 6,000 mAh the battery is still uncertain, but there seems to be enough juice to guarantee the flight time of 40 minutes.
Some of the biggest upgrades will be on the camera system, with a dual Hasselblad camera showing 7x zoom for top shooters. The gimbal system seems to be automatically locked when the drone is turned off, even though it raises questions about the future or the protector of the DJI acrylic in the context. Leaks mention support for Apple’s Prores format although it does not enter the Bitrate Codec specifications.
DJI can launch this new drone in October, but there has been a rumor about delay until January 2022. The same is uncertain at this time is the name of what the company will use, both DJI Mavic 3 or, more likely, DJI Pro 3. Maybe even into two models launched, just like Mavic 2 and Mavic 2 Pro, but there are still many open questions about the next DJI drone at the moment.
