Spotify’s new feature lets you make dynamic, shared playlists with friends

Streaming music services gave us access to millions of songs and albums wherever we go. They also eliminate some of the best parts of building and maintaining a collection of music. There are few incentives to buy an album when everything is in Spotify or Apple Music, and the album that is not often ignored. But one of the most tragic victims of the streaming era must be a mixtape. You will burn a cassette or CD for someone in 2021 because you will call a play phone. That’s why a new mixed playlist Spotify makes me very excited.

Spotify first launched a beta test for playlist playlists in June. As the name suggests, the Blend Playlist allows two Spotify users to combine their tastes to make a shared playlist that they can enjoy. Now this feature is available to the public, it includes several main tweaks. Mixed playlists now have new cover art so you can easily distinguish between them all. The mixture also has a flavored match score that shows you how the preferences listen to your music compared to your friends. Finally, there is a data story that can be shared with every playlist that can be shared in social channels.

The most interesting thing about Blend Playlist is that they update every day. Depending on what you listen to, your mixed playlist will adapt, give your friends a new source of music that is endless to check out. This, for me, is the perfect feature for online streaming services. Those who want to use the mixture might issue a lot of them. Those who cannot ignore it at all. After all, I am happy to test it.
