Twitter has announced a limited launch of super follow features, new subscription-based opportunities that allow users to share content only by paying for followers. This new feature is limited to a small number of current accounts, but Twitter will make it available for additional users in the future.
Twitter has talked about monetization plans for a while now, although the introduction and launch of this ability will take place slowly. This feature is officially called Super Follow, and it rotates around a subscription-based system that is no different from Patreon and similar platforms.
Super Follow allows creators to monetize their Twitter accounts and content they share, while followers can use the opportunity to support financially from their favorite creators and get access to special content. For example, someone who makes podcasts can use Super Follow to share additional audio content and behind the scenes see their work by paying for followers.
Twitter suggests Super Follow features can be used by various creators and users to fund their projects, including writers, activists, comedians, experts, musicians, and more. Three subscription level options are available: $ 2.99, $ 4.99, and $ 9.99. People who subscribe to a Twitter maker will get a ‘Super Follower’ badge specifically next to their names.
Because the feature is new, Twitter said it limits its availability of only a small number of people located in the US. The company has a waiting list that interested users can register, place them in line to potentially get access to Super follow in the future. Full list of FAQs, including how to register for dinner following someone, can be found on the Twitter website.
